The SA Journal of Industrial Psychology publishes articles in four different Open Access formats, namely:
HTML: The HTML format enjoys the advantage that web browsers automatically generate line breaks so that text fits within the available window size. Thus to read an HTML document, the user need only scroll up and down instead of having to either scroll from side to side or to resize the document with the Zoom command. The text becomes an interactive experience allowing the reader to interact with the content by clicking on links and jumping to parts in the manuscript that the reader is interested in. The other significant advantage of the HTML format is that with Google Translate, you are able to ‘translate’ the article into more than 60 world languages.
EPUB: EPUB, short for ‘electronic publication,’ is an open standard format for eBooks. As an open standard, it has great compatibility across a wide range of eReaders and has become the de facto universal standard within the eReader sector. These files are downloaded into your eReader or could be read with your browser if it has an eReader plugin.
XML: XML is an acronym for eXtensible Markup Language and has become the de facto standard for data transfer, used primarily by search engines and indexers to search and store published articles.
PDF: PDF is an acronym for Portable Document Format which is a file format used to represent articles in a manner independent of application software, hardware, and operating systems and is downloaded to your computer and read with an Adobe Reader software package or read within your browser if it has a PDF Reader plugin.
Add and view comments ↑
To add a comment to an article as a whole, first ensure that you are logged into the journal website. At the bottom of the article abstract itself click on the link Add comment. Alternatively, you can click on the reading tools functionality called Post a Comment on the sidebar on the right.
We encourage comments that:
- are 'on topic', and that respond to the content in the article - comment must be evidence-based, not authority-based
- are responses to comments left by other readers
- are brief and to the point
- have a positive and constructive tone
might disagree with the content in the article, but that never insult the writer of the article or other commenters - when disagreeing the comment should be accurately referenced and, where possible, speculation about the motivations, beliefs or prejudices of authors should be avoided.
We discourage comments that:
- are not 'on topic' or are not responding to other comments or the content in the article
- insult the writer of the article or other commenters
- are excessively long or negative in tone
We will delete comments, without notice, that:
- are abusive, harassing, threatening or vulgar
- are personal attacks, including name-calling or celebrations of another person's death or misfortune
- contain advertising or spam
- are disruptive, including personal conversations better suited for private messaging
Any users who consistently transgress these conventions will have their user privileges removed.
Alerting publisher of inappropriate comments: To request review of a comment you believe to be inappropriate, contact the publisher immediately. AOSIS OpenJournals staff will investigate the concern, which may involve consulting external experts if necessary. Any comments that AOSIS staff deem to be inappropriate will be removed. Any users who consistently post inappropriate material will have their user privileges removed. Click here to view contact details of publisher.
